Volunteer of the Month: Celebrating Caitlyn Sutter

Honoring Our Previous Volunteers of the Month

Celebrating Caitlyn

At Southwest Kids Cancer Foundation, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. Each month, we highlight one of the incredible individuals who helps make camp and year-round programming possible. For August 2025, we’re proud to celebrate Caitlyn, whose dedication and joy shine brightly in our community.

How it Started đź’›

Caitlyn’s journey with SWKCF began a few years ago when her mom joined as a volunteer. While she didn’t personally grow up in the program, she saw the incredible impact it had on her cousins’ lives, and she knew she wanted to be part of creating that same joy for other kids.

“I started volunteering a few years ago when my mom joined,” Caitlyn shared. “Although I didn’t grow up in this program, it was such a big and happy part of my cousins’ lives. I am so happy I am able to help make other kids in the same situation enjoy fun opportunities.”

The Magic of Camp ✨

For Caitlyn, the magic of camp happens in those small but powerful moments, the anticipation, the reunions, and the transformation of campers from shy first-timers into confident returners with lifelong friendships.

“I really enjoy seeing how excited the kids are before camp and when they see their friends they haven’t seen since the last camp,” she said. “I think it’s really special to see even the shy first-time campers come back with great memories and best friends.”

Why We Celebrate Caitlyn 🌻

Caitlyn’s warmth and positivity remind us that volunteering isn’t just about giving, it’s about building memories, friendships, and hope. Her commitment to ensuring kids with cancer and their siblings feel included and celebrated makes her an essential part of the SWKCF family.

Thank you, Caitlyn, for being an incredible volunteer and for helping us carry out our mission to create joy and connection for children and families across Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. We’re so grateful for you! 💛

We also want to take a moment to recognize the incredible volunteers who have been honored earlier this year. Each of them has played a special role in making our mission possible:

  • January – Shiloh Monka

  • February – Bill McKnight

  • March – Vincent Ortega

  • April – Fred Schafer & Tyler Karas

  • May – Lee Bartlett

  • June – Kegan Remington & Denise Salara

  • July – Perla Preciado & Bryson Wampler

Together, this group represents the spirit of generosity, hope, and dedication that defines our community.
