Thunderbirds Charities Grants Southwest Kids Cancer Foundation $15K

Announcing a generous contribution to individuals who have or had pediatric cancer and their families

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (JUNE 10, 2019) – Thunderbirds Charities gave word that their Board of Directors were pleased to announce that Southwest Kids Cancer Foundation and furthermore, Arizona Camp Sunrise & Sidekicks had been approved for a grant in the amount of $15,000! Such a generous contribution was provided to support the Foundation’s camp programming and those extraordinary families we serve.

Since the establishment of the original Thunderbirds conforming to handle special events back in 1937, over 300 members now comprise the organization to date. When they started with the initial five young executives leading the committee (who then each chose ten additional active members to make up a capped 55), it’s a wonder if they ever intended to reach the growth and impact they’ve made in their 83 years of development.

Today, $147 million plus has been raised for Arizona Charities and counting! These Thunderbirds continue to spread good deeds across the state while staying true to their mission:

“Thunderbirds Charities is a non-profit organization formed in 1986 to distribute monies raised through the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament. The Thunderbirds Charities Board consists of 15 board members from varying professional backgrounds. The mission of Thunderbirds Charities is to assist children and families, help people in need and improve the quality of life in our communities. The organization giving is directed toward organizations based or with a significant presence in Arizona.”

Without the support of those like Thunderbirds Charities, the success of Southwest Kids Cancer Foundation and Arizona Camp Sunrise & Sidekicks wouldn’t be possible. We appreciate all that you do for our kids and the community as a whole – Thank You!
